The day finally arrived when Ph Le Roux Coetzee picked up at the airport in Kimberley, Chad Gay from Bloomfield New Mexico and Kelen Lovett from Cortez Colorado USA. We first met Chad at one of our annual promo’ meetings in Farmington New Mexico about 6 years ago and the planning of this hunt started then. Chad has been on 5 other African safaris with different outfitters whilst Kelen was celebrating his debut hunt in Africa with Wintershoek Johnny Vivier Safaris. Due to the fact that this was already Chad’s 5th safari his species list included a few selected species; whilst Kelen on the other hand had a monstrous hit list of 25 different species that he wanted to hunt! Ph Lash LeRoux was up to the challenge to grant Kelen the opportunities, whilst Kelen was more than prepared to face the challenge armed with a Browning 7mm and 45-70. Chad’s armory consisted of a Ruger #1 45-70 and his Ph was Dawie Jacobs for the first 3 days of the safari. At 32 years young Kelen did extremely well out in the bush; Kelen is a true hunter and marksman which made Le Roux’s task a whole lot easier with shots as far out as 354 yards to bag a trophy! Kelen took all 25 animals with Le Roux which included some fantastic quality specimens. Here is what Kelen and Chad had to say about their hunt at Gamagara;

I truly had a trip of a lifetime. Everything from the hunting to the accommodations was more than I have ever had on any other hunt. I am already planning to start saving to come back for a buffalo hunt in the future.  As far as the baboon hunting went, we tried very hard but just didn’t see any. LeRoux took me to three different spots looking for them and we just never came across one. That’s ok though, they will be there next time. Thanks for a fabulous hunt and outstanding trophy quality – Kelen D. Lovett.

I feel that you guys are genius at marketing your hunts! There isn’t any other company that does a better job advertising than you guys. That being said and comparing apples to apples, there were a few things I really liked that were different about you guys. We were able to hunt on a few low fence places which was a nice change. Even though the species where limited it was different from typical South Africa hunting! I liked the fact there where so many different species on your area or close by. That was the reason that we hunted with your company. Even with the short amount of time we had and the two very different lists that Kelen and I had, you guys came through and for that I commend you. You guys lived up to your reputation. To me it’s the little things that are going to set you apart from the rest. We were able to take better than average trophies and Kelen was able to do the same. Our lodge manager Susan was an awesome host and my PH Dawie put his best foot forward every time we shared time hunting together. We picked you guys out of a long list of outfitters to hunt with and to collect good trophies and we did that, thank you – Chad Gay.
